Today, the Elderly Week begins in Cómpeta

Cómpeta kicks off Elderly Week on November 20, dedicating it to residents aged 65 and above. The program includes a Cómpeta Choir concert, dance classes by Dave Smith, a hiking route, bingo, an excursion to Setenil de las Bodegas, a communal meal, and a musical evening featuring municipal bands. The week concludes on November 28 with a sports meeting for the senior gymnastics group in Nerja. Pre-registration is required for some activities, such as the excursion and meal. The festivities aim to offer diverse entertainment and cultural experiences for the elderly community, running until November 28.

Register at the Town Hall or "El Portichuelo," the starting point, where you can also grab your event T-shirt. Participants completing the route will receive exciting gifts. XXVI Feria de la Mula

The Mule Fair, held annually in Arenas, Málaga, Spain, on October 12th, is a Provincial Tourist Event of Special Interest. Its aim is to educate future generations about the historical significance of mules in traditional agriculture. The fair features diverse activities like mule exhibitions, blacksmithing demos, loading contests, and races for mules, donkeys, and horses. An honorary mule driver is chosen each year, and festivities conclude with traditional dances and the tasting of "migas arrieras," a local dish, paired with organic muscatel wine. The event revives the cultural heritage of agricultural practices involving these animals.

I TRAIL CANILLAS DE ALBAIDA – HIGINIO CHALLENGE

On October 6, 2023, the Canillas de Albaida City Council organized the "I TRAIL CANILLAS DE ALBAIDA – HIGINIO CHALLENGE," a trail running event in collaboration with a group of runners. The event featured two routes, 14 km and 24 km, taking place in the Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara, and Alhama Natural Park. The trails attracted 330 participants and occurred on Sunday.

Nerja Dons Its Festive Attire from October 7th to 12th: A Glimpse into the 2023 Fair

Nerja is gearing up for its 2023 Fair from October 7th to 12th. Mayor Elena Gálvez revealed the event's poster and program, featuring notable acts like Las Migas, Antoñito Molina, and Comandante Lara. Concerts at the Municipal Pavilion start at 11:00 PM, with tickets available at malagaentradas.com and Fotos Guerrero for 12 euros. Highlights include a concert at the Town Hall on October 7th, the Xia Gala for the Fair Queen and Knight, and various competitions. The Grand Float Parade on October 10th and a Tribute Luncheon for Seniors on October 11th add to the festivities. A children's party on October 12th concludes the celebration.

Gastronomy Takes Center Stage on Cómpeta's Tourist and Resident Day

The president of the Mancomunidad de Municipios de la Costa del Sol Axarquía, Jorge Martín, along with the mayor of Cómpeta, Rosa Luz Fernández, and the Tourism and Residents councilors, Mónica Ruiz and Marius Lawrence Jonker, respectively, unveiled the program for Cómpeta's Tourist and Resident Day, set to take place on September 30. Under the theme "The Taste of Cómpeta," they highlighted the gastronomic richness of the multicultural town, with 35 nationalities among its 4,000 residents. The event will feature tapas from 25 varieties of food representing 19 countries, prepared by local residents, with proceeds benefiting charitable organizations. They also emphasized Cómpeta's role in inland tourism in Axarquía. The event will include live music with altruistic contributions from various artists. They invited residents of Málaga to enjoy this unique experience celebrating the cultural diversity of Cómpeta.
